DRAFT LANGUAGE AND GRAPHIC
Our Mapleton Portrait of a Graduate serves as a compass for curriculum and program development. Through classroom and community-connected learning opportunities, students regularly reflect on their participation, progress, and performance. They set meaningful goals aligned with the Portrait and document their growth and achievements through student-led conferences, Sforza Fair exhibitions of learning, and student portfolios.
When a student walks across the stage to earn their diploma, we know they are healthy and dynamic young adults who have already made meaningful contributions to their communities. With this vision in mind, we design learning experiences at each grade level to ensure all students reach their full academic and personal potential.
At Mapleton School District, we cultivate dynamic graduates who are resilient, adaptable, and ready to thrive in an ever-changing world. Through a focus on communication, critical thinking, innovation, and advocacy, our graduates embrace personal growth and community connection, equipped with the skills to navigate both local and global challenges.
The ship’s navigation wheel guides our vision of developing young adults who are dynamic communicators, thinkers, innovators, and advocates. These qualities are anchored by our commitment to personal health and wellness, where students build the habits and skills to support their physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being.
DYNAMIC COMMUNICATORS actively engage with diverse audiences, using clear, confident, and respectful communication across multiple modes. They provide information and reasoned explanations to back their claims. They practice kindness, active listening, and are not afraid to ask for help or share ideas. They are open-minded, trustworthy, and know when to be the “bigger person,” walking away when needed. By embracing teamwork, they foster connections, showing respect and mutual understanding in all interactions. They can adapt their communication, whether leading a discussion, participating in a group, or explaining complex concepts, ensuring everyone feels heard and understood.
DYNAMIC THINKERS demonstrate curiosity and perseverance. They are problem solvers who approach challenges with a growth mindset, ready to learn from their mistakes and ask thoughtful questions. These students are open to new ideas and use critical thinking to analyze information, take calculated risks, and creatively solve complex problems. They show focus and take responsibility for their learning, whether through studying academic subjects, engaging in hands-on learning, or supporting their peers. Dynamic Thinkers embrace diverse perspectives, always looking for ways to improve themselves and those around them.
DYNAMIC INNOVATORS are determined, motivated, and ready to take appropriate risks to bring about change. They think outside the box, finding creative solutions to everyday challenges. With discipline and a strong work ethic, they take initiative in designing new ideas and projects. They are not afraid to make mistakes and are committed to continuous improvement. Whether working on individual goals or collaborative efforts, they are always looking for ways to make things better, applying hands-on learning, leadership skills, and problem-solving in all they do
DYNAMIC ADVOCATES use their voice to support others, standing up for what they believe in with confidence, compassion, and understanding. They practice gratitude and empathy, recognizing the importance of social norms and positive relationships within their community. Advocates are supportive and encouraging, ensuring everyone feels valued and included. They know when to take calculated risks for the greater good and are resilient in the face of obstacles, never giving up on their mission to make their school and community a better place. Dynamic Advocates are brave in their pursuit of fairness and are committed to helping others grow alongside themselves.
